Dry January? What’s that?

Until yesterday, I had never heard of the movement.

According to Today, “‘Dry January’ is a month when many people voluntarily stop drinking alcohol after the excesses of December and start the new year on a sober, clearer, more refreshed and healthy note.” In that sense, it’s similar to a practice I picked up from Joe Rogan, “Sober October.”

I’m sure many of you either saw or read about the tweets from Pabst Blue Ribbon. Many fans of the beer maker applauded the crass commentary on Twitter. Conversely, many were also appalled, calling the take tone-deaf.

Whichever way you look at it, I think it most definitely stirred up attention, something the brand is not new to doing.

I’m curious to know what those of you in my network think.

Was this a good move by PBR, or was it genuinely tone-deaf?
